THE SWALE SCHOLARS PROGRAMME

The Parkland Federation runs the new and highly sought after ‘Swale Scholars Programme.’  This programme is bespoke to our partner Swale Academy Trust Schools and is aimed at improving the attainment of high ability pupils.

HOW ARE PUPILS SELECTED TO BECOME A ‘SWALE SCHOLAR?’

The Head of School works alongside teachers to select pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 who are not only predicted to achieve the ‘greater depth standard’ in a specific subject by the end of Key Stage 2, but are also on trajectory to achieving Grades 7,8 or 9 at GSCE level (roughly equivalent to A-A* under the old system) by the time they leave secondary school.

WHAT DOES THE ‘SWALE SCHOLAR’ PROGRAMME LOOK LIKE?

Each term has a different subject focus.  Throughout the term, our Swale Scholars attend a series of weekly lessons at one of our Swale Secondary Schools; The Eastbourne Academy and Causeway School.

Our Swale Scholars are accompanied by staff from their primary school and take part in exciting projects within the secondary environment utilising their fantastic facilities.  These lessons expose pupils to a challenging academic environment that promotes a culture that champions excellence, high expectations and hard work.

At the end of each term, the parents of our Swale Scholars are invited for a showcase of scholar learning that has taken place at the secondary school.  Each pupil receives a certificate in recognition that they have successfully completed the Swale Scholars programme
